Stag beetle species that are protected under Japanese laws or ordinances
Many beautiful islands in Japan have unique ecosystems, but in some cases they are endangered. Some of the Japanese stag beetles living there are protected under Japanese laws or local ordinances. We cannot catch or hurt those species. Below map illustrates the area where the protected species live as of May 2016. If there is any inconsistency between the map and laws (or ordinances), the laws (or ordinances) is the priority.
